Bio

b. 1957, Romania; lives and works in Tel Aviv

Fanny Horowitz acquired her artistic education in various institutions, including HaKolel Contemporary Painting Studio, Tel Aviv, and under leading artists, such as David Nipo. She works in diverse techniques: figurative works in oil on canvas, etchings in assorted techniques, as well as collage works on paper, which combine paper scraps which she paints with magazine clippings. Her most recent body of work was done in mixed collage technique.

In the series on which she is currently working, she addresses her childhood experiences as a newcomer, and the way in which those autobiographical events shaped her life. She employs the collage technique in the paper works as well as the oil paintings on canvas, to show the dissonance between the experience of immigration and the Israeli melting pot.
